Last Friday the buses pulled in the FBC parking lot filled with children, students, and adult sponsors all worn out from a great week Camp Chaparral in Wichita Falls. As always, all of those who attended had many stories to share and lots of laundry to wash.
Our 2.10 Ministry took 148 students, grades 6 through 12, and 40 adult sponsors. This camp was Jeremy Taylor’s first camp with FBC Lewisville. A former FBC member, and now Campus Pastor at Hope Fellowship’s West Campus in Frisco, Texas, was the camp pastor for the week. There were a total of six decisions made.
This Wednesday, July 23, at 9pm the students will gather on the front lawn of the church for their annual drive-in movie night. As always, it will be a double-feature, which will include the official presentation of the 2.10 Camp video and a “mystery” full-length feature film.
The KidZone Ministry took 55 children, grades 3 through 5, and 20 adult sponsors. This camp marked Wayne Cotton’s final KidZone camp in his role as our Children’s Minister. Thanks, Wayne, for taking such good care of our children over these past 7 years. Jennifer Owen, our current interim Children’s Minister, and an excellent team of dedicated volunteers did a great job pulling everything together. Please continue to pray for our personnel committee as they continue their search for a new children’s minister.
Music Ministry Update
After taking a few weeks off for mission trips, VBS, and summer camps, Worship Choir and Orchestra will resume rehearsals this Wednesday, July 23, at 7pm in the choir room and worship center. To celebrate, there will be an ice cream fellowship at the end of our rehearsal time. If you like to sing or play an instrument, please consider being a part of our music and worship family and join us for this rehearsal. If you have any questions, please contact the music office at 972.436.5502 or send us an e-mail at email@example.com. Our worship choir is directed by Kelvin Reed and Elizabeth Bowen directs our orchestra.
AMPED, our week long summer worship camp for children, who have completed grades 1 through 5, is next week, July 28 through August 1. The children will present the musical Blast Off!, by Celeste Clydesdale, at 12pm in the Worship Center. Throughout the week, children will be learning fabulous music which will focus our attention on the God who created the stars and the heavens and is the same God who loves the world so much that He sent His Son to die for us! If you haven’t signed up your children yet for this incredible week of worship and fun, there are still a few spots available. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org to enroll your child or answer any questions you might have about this event.
With great expectations,
