It’s been said, “Preach the gospel and if necessary, use words.” However, words are imperative in discipling our children. This verse is clear: “Talk about them…” Faith conversations can be difficult. If we’re honest, we would admit we struggle with our own questions of spirituality and faith. In a word, it’s messy. But spiritual conversations are possible. And our questions and struggles may even add beauty to the mess of discipling our kids. As parents, our role is to filter and frame life according to a biblical point of view, even life’s messiness. And as we wade through the mess of these conversations, faith “sticks” in our kid’s lives.
Think about the conversations you’ve had lately with your family. Have they been primarily about activity and things or faith and belief? It’s never too early or too late to articulate faith to our children.
