42 Days of Spiritual Detox
September 25 - 1 Corinthians 5:6-8
In the Jewish feast of Passover, people knew that they were to prepare their homes by throwing out the old leaven or yeast, and preparing bread for the feast without it. In the scriptures, leaven or yeast commonly referred to sin or, in most cases, evil influence. Therefore, Paul is telling us to get rid of the old “leaven” (sins), to repent and live as Christ would have us to live, in sincerity and truth. Looking back at 5:6, we understand that our “leaven,” or sin we continue to live in and hold onto, not only affects our lives but begins to infect and corrupt the entire church body.
