“Service is not a list of things that we do, though in it we discover things to do. It is not a code of ethics, but a way of living.” - Richard Foster, Celebration of Discipline
In his book The Purpose Driven Life, Rick Warren asks the question, “How can you know if you have the heart of a servant?” Using 7:15-20, Warren writes that you can tell a lot about who people are by what they do. Warren says real servants make themselves available to serve, pay attention to needs, do their best with what they have, do every task with equal dedication, are faithful to their ministry, and maintain a low profile. Which of these six characteristics is most challenging to you? Spend time asking God to refine you as you submit to the discipline of service. Ask him to help you in the areas in which you are weak as he transforms you into the servant he desires.
