Reflections on REVO / Disciple Now Weekend

As I type this, we are less than two weeks away from one of the biggest and best events 2.10 Student Ministry has all year. That’s right, REVO Disciple Now 2015 is just around the corner!

While I have never experienced a First Baptist Lewisville REVO Disciple Now, I have experienced something similar many times. At last count, this will be my 18th Disciple Now weekend to be a part of! I keep coming back to this event, not just because I am paid to do so, but because it truly is one of my favorite events that we have all year. The worship is incredible, but it is at camp, as well.Small Groups are awesome, but our Bible Study small groups are as well. The fun activities are amazing, but we do some really great ones on Wednesday night. We serve in our community, but we have mission trips that are a week long and even more impactful.

This weekend is different because it takes the whole church. It takes members willing to open their homes. It takes deacons cooking breakfast. It takes several staff members to assist. It takes a lot of really safe drivers to shuttle kids around for the weekend. It takes generous donations so that we can scholarship kids who can’t even afford the low price of $45 for the weekend (a price that is low because our church members do all of the things listed above). I love this weekend because our students get to see the church being the church. Our students get to see Romans 12:4-5 lived out: "For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function,so we,though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” Thank you for showing our students, and this student pastor what the church is truly made of!
