Book Recommendation:
Several of you have asked for resources that show you how to use scripture to re-direct and instruct your children in different situations. Parenting with Scripture isn’t as much an instruction manual as a resource. This is topical and leads parents of toddlers through teens through a script to use during those teachable moments of re-direction. (Click on the picture of the book for more information) I picked up my latest copy at Mardel located next to Garden Ridge Store at Hwy 35 and 3040. Across the interstate from Vista Ridge Mall.)

The Big Idea: People thanked Jesus for helping them.
The Bible Story: A Man Thanked Jesus (Luke 17:11-19)
Bible Phrase:Babies: Jesus helped people. Matthew 14:14
1s & 2s: Be thankful. Colossians 3:15
Connecting Points this week:
Rub a piece of gauze along your child's arm; if your child is an older 2, cut a length of gauze that he can wrap around his arm. Comment that Jesus met 10 men who were sick and had bandages wrapped around their arms and legs. Jesus helped the men. One man thanked Jesus. Pat the floor or the
Bible with a steady rhythm. Repeat the Bible phrase as you pat the rhythm. (this is a great mnemonic device for children when memorizing) Pray, thanking God for Jesus who helped people.
Threes- Pre-K's
“The Big Idea: Jesus did things only He could do.
The Bible Story: Jesus Helped Ten Men (Luke 17:11-19)
Bible Verse: Jesus helped sick people. Luke 7:21
Connecting Points this week:
Review the Bible story with your child. Talk about who Jesus helped and how He helped. Help your child open a Bible to Luke 7:21 and say the Bible verse together. Emphasize that only God and Jesus could have made the men well. Encourage your family to recall other stories in which Jesus did things only He could do. (calmed the storm, fed more than 5000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fish, walked on water, made blind men.)
Kindergarten
The Big Idea: People told that Jesus was alive.
The Bible Story: Two Men Saw Jesus ( Luke 24:13-35)
Bible Verse: The men told people about Jesus. Acts 11:20
Connecting Points this week:
Take a walk around your neighborhood with your child or family. Or go to a park or walking trail where you can walk together. Talk about the Bible
story in which two men were walking to Emmaus. Note that when they
realized that they had seen and talked with Jesus, they quickly returned to Jerusalem to tell the disciples that Jesus was alive. Find a place to stop and sit; encourage your child (and other family members) to name things they see that are alive and things that are not alive. Ask them who you could tell about Jesus and invite them to come to church. Pray, thanking God that Jesus is alive.
