Psalm 40:1-3

Waiting. It can be annoying—maybe even frustrating.

Waiting on hold while on the telephone. Waiting for traffic to clear on I-35. Waiting at the doctor’s office. Waiting at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Those examples are relatively easy to get beyond. These delays will pass.

What about waiting for an answer to a prayer? Or waiting to hear a word from the Lord in times of need?

Turn to the Lord while you’re waiting. Do what he nudges you to do. He’s at work. Actively wait in the meantime. Christ may even put a new song on your lips or in your heart.
