We all experience times when we feel hurt or abandoned by someone who loves us—or who we thought loved us. We take these bad experiences and sometimes use them as a reason to blame God for the hurt we are feeling. Even the great leader of the Israelites, King David, felt this way at times.
The good news is God is big enough to handle ALL of our feelings and true expressions of emotion. He is glad we turn to him in prayer, even when our words are ugly. If you’re a parent, you’ve experienced a child saying hurtful words to you. When you look back, you realize your child was just reaching out to you because he/she didn’t understand what was going on at the moment. God is grateful to hear from his children, especially when we turn to him in times of despair.
Eventually, we look back and say, “I will sing to the LORD, for He has been good to me.”
