Luke 19:1-10

“Forgiving means forgetting.”

Forgiveness is not an act of self-induced spiritual amnesia. God doesn’t forget (an omniscient God doesn’t forget stuff). When the Bible says God remembers our sin no more, it means he no longer responds to us in light of those sins. They no longer derail our relationship with him. When we forgive others, we no longer hold them hostage for the wrong they committed against us. We may never forget that it happened, and feelings of hurt may surface again, but in forgiving, we choose to release them over and over again. And in doing so, we are set free from our anger.
