From the moment I read the word “expectation” my pulse began to race, and I began to consider what adventure and wonder lie ahead! In thinking about the approaching Christmas holidays, the word “expectation” conjures up all kinds of fantastic thoughts and visions. By definition, expectation is a strong belief that something will happen in the near future. As we are only a few short days from December, let me ask you something. What is your EXPECTATION for Christmas this year?

During this week, as we begin to peer into this marvelous Advent season, let us and consider our sense of expectation and how we can prepare ourselves to focus our hearts and minds on its true meaning. After all, it’s the best time of the year!

Isaiah 9:1-6
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel
I love how this passage begins, “But there will be no more gloom.” These verses paint a beautiful picture to us, reminding us that we CAN expect something more, something greater! As you begin this special Thanksgiving week, take a moment to celebrate God’s remedy from gloom, as seen in the birth of the child mentioned in verse 9:6. Thank Almighty God for his perfect plan that rescued us from the gloom of life’s pressures and struggles, and has in turn given us an expectation for something wonderful that is to come! Listen to this great carol longing for the promised Messiah.
