1 Peter 5:12-14

Silvanus is another name for Silas. He, most likely, wrote the letter as Peter dictated the words to him. Babylon could be a veiled reference to Rome. Babylon is usually a symbol for evil. The church lived in an evil world, but remained faithful to God. Mark refers to John Mark, a dear friend of Peter. He penned the second gospel in our New Testament. Kissing was a form of greeting in the first century. Be careful if you attempt to use this greeting with everyone you meet.
