15 Days on Giving

November 2 – 1 Kings 18:41-46

After the smoke cleared from God’s demonstration of power, King Ahab stood over the bodies of Queen Jezebel’s 450 prophets of Baal, wondering how he was going to tell her what had happened. Meanwhile, Elijah was up on Mount Carmel resolutely praying to God for rain to return to the land. King Ahab allowed himself to become a slave to the world while Elijah was dedicated to serving the King of kings. Missionary, Amy Carmichael, wrote, “Every day we live, we have to choose whether we should follow in the way of Ahab or of Elijah.” Matthew 6:33 comes to mind: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Whose example would your next door neighbor say you are following: the way of Ahab or Elijah?
