2 Corinthians 1:3-7

What a beautiful picture of God’s plan for redeeming and healing humankind. Paul says God is the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. He is the creator of it all and he knows our needs better than we know them ourselves. And we are comforted, not just for our comfort, but so we can go forward and comfort others. Think of a time or situation in your life where you received comfort. Perhaps it was during a time of grief from the loss of a loved one or loss of a job? Or maybe you have been comforted during times of stress or even confusion? Were there people around you who offered comfort and encouragement because they had walked a similar road? Did it bring peace just to know you weren’t alone and that others had been in your shoes?

Think about this passage as it relates to you being a comforter for others. How has God or how might God use your own struggles and the comfort that came through them in order to comfort others? How can you be an encourager this week to someone around you?
