John 5:1-15

Today’s reading is an account of Jesus healing a paralytic. Similar to yesterday’s passage, Jesus asked another curious question upon meeting the man. Jesus asked him, “Do you wish to get well?” Jesus knew the man was ingrained in his disability. The man had given up hope for healing and was content feeling sorry for himself. Jesus’ question demonstrates the fact that God cares about us personally and offers hope. He wants to engage us where we are in life. If you are someone struggling with mental illness, Jesus’ question comes to you today. Do you wish to get well? Spend some time now asking Jesus for the healing and hope you (and others) need.
