A new year is upon us and perhaps you have done what many do—make resolutions/set goals for 2017. This is a worthy effort. I have my sights on 2017 as well. I have set some personal goals that involve physical fitness, a healthy body, and spiritual benchmarks. I have put these in written form—I cannot ignore them or feign a loss of memory.
One of my spiritual resolutions involves generosity and giving. I have always considered myself a generous believer. I believe in tithing for it gives me a measurable sign of progress. Our church has embarked upon a journey that involves expanding our campus to meet the needs of preschool, children, and students. Before we hit the weeks of summer, we will know just how committed we are to completing this journey of faith. Each of us will be challenged to give above and beyond what we currently give to enable us to provide this much-needed space.
So if you are still considering personal goals for 2017, I suggest putting generosity and giving at the top of your list.
See you Sunday,
Stephen G. Hatfield
