James 2:14-20

One way to tell whether or not someone has faith in Jesus Christ is by watching their lifestyle and actions. To be clear, Paul states, “For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). And the prophet Isaiah said “Righteous acts are nothing but filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6), but James, the half-brother of our Lord, questions: Is faith without action really faith at all?

I once asked a lady in Poland if she believed in Jesus. She responded saying, “I am Catholic, but I am not really Catholic.” She wasn’t a believer in Jesus. She had simply grown up in a Catholic family. Regardless of who or what you believe in, it is easy to express belief in a faith and not truly live that faith. Stop right now and evaluate your faith in Christ. Who do your faithful deeds reflect?
