Deeply Rooted - Week 6:

Hebrews 11:1-2

The definition given in Hebrews of faith can be a hard pill to swallow: “A confidence in things hoped for and assurance of things unseen.” All of humanity has experienced a faith in something, but the majority of these somethings are visible to the eye. It is very easy to lean upon what is physically seen or knowledgeably explained in life, but God calls his people to something more—faith based on eternal hope. Divine approval is not found in the knowledge known, but in belief in the knowledge that is unknown.

Faithfulness is what sets a Christian apart from the world because it is faith that provides connection to the eternal spiritual love that is the very force for life.

As you let the Spirit grow your faith this week, ask yourself a couple of questions: When was the last time you shared the good news of Christ with someone? When was the last time you shared life with someone who doesn’t know Christ? Faithfulness is a good measuring stick for divine approval and can show whether or not your belief is based on faithfulness or mere words.
