John 15:1-11

The goal is that our lives in Christ would ultimately reflect ALL the characteristics of the fruit the Spirit produces and not just one or two them. Each one of these characteristics is mutually dependent on the other. That is they are working together to produce a Christ-centered life. Today’s Scripture reminds us we need to remain connected to the source of abundant life. At times, we will find some pruning needs to take place, and while that may be painful, it allows us to grow and produce beyond our current capacity. We must, as Paul tells us, "put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24, ESV).
