Mark 12:28-34

Jewish rabbis categorized 613 individual commandments in the Law. They drew lines of importance between them. To the man who asked Jesus to identify the most important of them all, Jesus joined the Shema (the significant prayer of the Jews found in Deuteronomy 6:4) with Leviticus 19:18, the command to love one’s neighbor. The scribe agreed and understood. This pleased Jesus. One of the closing lines in the movie, Les Misérables, says: “To love another person is to see the face of God.”
