The Station of the Crown of Thorns

Isaiah 53:3-7

Have you ever been asked by a doctor or nurse to rate your pain: “On a scale of 1-10, with one being tolerable and ten being the worst pain imaginable, how is your pain?”

Jesus knew pain. He was brutally and relentlessly tortured in every way: physically to the point of death, emotionally to the point of heartbreak, spiritually to the point of despair. In his book, The Barbarian Way, Erwin McManus says, “Love is not the absence of pain. If anything, love is the promise of pain. Love and sacrifice cannot be separated. And no one has loved more deeply than God.” Give thanks for the deep, deep love of Jesus and the pain he took in your place.
