The Station of Betrayal

Matthew 26:14-19

Judas had a choice to make. It was a huge choice. Scripture only gives bits and pieces of his ultimate betrayal, but much more took place than we have documented. I wonder how many nights Judas spent lying awake, thinking about betraying Jesus. I wonder if he changed his mind, maybe multiple times, going back and forth between betrayal and loyalty. I wonder if Judas felt like he had an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other, battling it out to see which would have their way with his life. We do not know the weight or length of the battle in his mind, but I believe it took place. In our passage today, we see the “tipping point.” He asks the chief priests, “What are you willing to give me to betray him to you?” Their answer was enough for him to go forward with the plan.

Let us ask ourselves today, “What is Jesus worth to me?”
