Proverbs 15:1-7

Can you think of a time in your life where someone used their words to calm you down?

That memory provides an example for gentleness in action. Speaking gently is practicing restraint and using wisdom with our words. Gentleness causes us to be timely with our responses, especially in heated moments.

When I think of gentleness I think of something smooth and slow and sweet like honey. I want my words to be like honey to others—calm (slow), kind (smooth), and filling (sweet). In your conversations today, slow down and try to be gentle in your responses regardless with whom you are speaking.
