John 8:1-11

God is gentle in dealing with us and our sin. We should be gentle as we help others identify their sin and come to Jesus. The woman who was caught in adultery was not treated with gentleness by the men that found her. They drug her out in public intending to humiliate and stone her.

Instead of acting harshly, Jesus asked the men to consider their own sin. After everyone left, he offered the woman a grace-filled and gentle rebuke to go and sin no more.

As you encounter sinners this week, remember your own sin and the gentleness with which God has treated you. He neither abused you nor rejected you. Rather, he lovingly accepted you into his family because of the blood of his Son. Be gentle.
