John 6:26-34

My sons’ favorite movie, no matter what time of year, is The Polar Express. The popular Josh Groban song, Believe, captures the essence of the film perfectly. With some liberty taken, I think the lyrics apply to today's set of scriptures:

“When it seems that we have lost our way, We find ourselves again on Christmas Day.
Believe in what your heart is saying, Hear the  melody that's playing.
There's no time to waste, There’s so much to celebrate.
Believe in what you feel inside, And give your dreams the wings to fly.
You have everything you need, if you just Believe.”

Is there anything keeping you from believing Christ is who he says he is? His followers expected to see him perform miracles before they would believe. What do we ask of God before we take him at his word? Do we expect him to grant us wishes like a genie? Do we try to make deals? “God, if you will just get me that job …” “If you will just show me who I am supposed to marry …” “If you will relieve this pain I'm in, then I'll know you are who you say you are.” All God asks of us, though, is to believe in his Son first. Everything else follows. There's no time to waste. There's so much to celebrate. Jesus tells us we have everything we need if we just believe.
