John 8:21-30

Because Jesus is the virgin-born Son of God, he is able to draw a line of distinction between himself and the unbelieving religious leaders of that day who were the children of the devil. “You are of your father, the devil” (John 8:44). Jesus came down from heaven while they were of the world and their unbelief brought condemnation upon them. “He that believes on him is not condemned but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18). For this reason, the Lord said to them, “You shall die in your sins; for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins.” What is the unpardonable sin? It is one’s rejection of Christ and failure to receive him as Savior and Lord.

It is gratifying to know that, in spite of rejection by the religious leaders, the Bible says, “As he spoke these words, many believed on him” (8:30).
