John 6:66-71

Following Christ is not always the easiest path, or the most popular. The crowd seems more fun, we want to be accepted by the popular group, or we don’t want to let go of a certain habit.

In this passage, many who followed Jesus turned away from him because they didn’t like what he had to say or his requirements to follow him. How many times have we said, “Oh, I can’t give that up,” or “Surely I don’t have to do that,” to follow Jesus? Probably more often than we should or want to admit. Simon Peter understood Jesus was the only way. Are we willing to do what is required to follow Jesus? We either accept or reject him.
