John 6:41-51

Why did Jesus call himself the bread of life? One of the greatest miracles the Israelites witnessed was the manna given from heaven to sustain them during their 40 years of wandering. They even placed a jar of manna inside the Ark of the Covenant so they would always remember God's provision. However, the manna did not provide eternal life for those who consumed it. Jesus, on the other hand, is the living bread who grants eternal life to those who abide in him. Just like the manna, we should take in Jesus every day. In this way, we become more like him. Matthew 5:6 says: "God blesses those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied." If we pursue Jesus, we will always be full.
