John 10:19-30

Here we have a powerful word picture from Jesus pledging the full power of God to provide for our security. “No one can snatch them out of my hand” shows the impossibility of true believers (Jesus’ sheep) being lost. He has already promised his disciples this security in John 6:39: “I shall lose none of them that he has given me.” When we face temptation, difficulties, or hard times, we have security with God not because of what we have done, but because of God’s power. Not our talents, not our strength, not our wisdom. Our security rests in God’s power. We are kept in his hands. Just as a shepherd protects his flock, Jesus protects his people from eternal harm.

We will face temptation and trial on earth. But Satan cannot harm us spiritually or take away our eternal life. This is the Devil’s domain, but for followers of Jesus, he provides everlasting safety and security.
