Exodus 10-11: The Ten Plagues
Have you ever pondered why there were ten plagues? Why not seven or two? If you have never noticed, numbers play an important part in God’s Word. For example, the children of Israel were about to receive God’s Ten Commandments and they were about to receive the command of giving God a tenth of their income back to Him. So what is significant about the number ten? According to many scholars, the number ten is the number of completeness or order. Look again at the plagues; you have three groups of three plagues. The tenth is final and is the death of the firstborn. I don’t think there is anything more “complete” or final than the end of life. Why do you think God used ten?
