John 21:1-11

After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to seven followers on the Sea of Galilee, including Peter, Thomas, James, John, and Nathanael. This passage identified Nathanael’s hometown as Cana of Galilee. This village was near Jesus’ home in Nazareth. Jesus performed the first miracle of his ministry at a wedding reception held in Cana (John 2:1-12). Nathanael was one of the fishermen who brought in the tremendous haul of fish. He also witnessed the conversation between Jesus and Peter. This conversation restored Peter’s confidence, motivating him to once again leave his fishing business in order to be about God’s business.
