“Love does not Brag and is not Arrogant”

1 Corinthians 4:6

Paul wrote the words of chapter 13 because the Corinthian church showed little love in their lives. Pride was part of their everyday routine. Was it pride over who won out on the color of the carpet in the fellowship hall? Was it jealously and pride over possessions? The sad thing is their basic arguments focused upon Paul and another church leader, Apollos. Those who saw competition as the best way to measure church growth pitted these two against each other. Really? There was lots of something going on in this church, but it doesn’t look like love.
