In this passage, the evil King Sennacherib of Assyria sent his messengers to confront King Hezekiah in Jerusalem. Similarly, our enemy comes to confront us still today—and many times he is loud and wants to intimidate us in front of others in public (36:11-20). One of the enemy’s tactics is to shake our confidence by planting questions in our mind that may cause doubt (36:4). When we maintain our hope in God though, we need to realize we don’t have to worry about every threat from the enemy, no matter how loud they are (36:21). Did you notice the people’s response?
