Temple - 1 Kings 6:14-38
The Holy of Holies was the innermost and most sacred part of the temple and was separated from the rest by a veil. It contained the Ark of the Covenant and the only person who could ever enter was the high priest (with strict instructions). He entered on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, to make a sacrifice on behalf of himself and the people. We know the veil was torn in two when Jesus died on the Cross. The most holy place is now the hearts of those who follow Christ. His Spirit is no longer contained in a temple, but is housed in the hearts of his followers.
