Philippians 3:8-11
Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs

Today’s reading is not meant to be a downer. It’s meant to be a reminder of the reality of suffering. If you haven’t experienced suffering, you will. If you have, then you know the importance of the proper attitude when facing tough times.

Paul called the sufferings of Christ a “fellowship.” We use this word to designate the room in our church where we socialize and share good food. Paul considered suffering as the blessed connection he had with Jesus.

Let the music and words from Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs, from Handel’s Messiah, speak to your heart and spirit.
