Ephesians 2: Prison Letter
Can you sense the urgency in Paul’s words? Remember Paul is in prison ultimately facing a death sentence. So what does he do while awaiting his sentencing and punishment? He encourages the Christians in the churches through his writings. While Paul’s letters are a bit different than a letter you or I would send to friends, can their purpose be considered the same? The letters he wrote eventually became approximately one fourth of the New Testament that we have today. However, their purpose was to instruct, build up, defend and exhort the believers and skeptics. Have we ever taken the time to send an email or text to build up or encourage a fellow believer who might be struggling? Before the day is out, make a point to encourage a fellow brother or sister in Christ.
