December 1, 2014

Christmas involves preparation. For many of us, the preparation for Christmas starts with decorating the house, putting up the lights, getting the tree, and navigating the plethora of gatherings with friends and family. It’s the one time of year that everyone is given a pass for tapping into their inner child, being filled with the awe and wonder at the landscape that unfolds during Christmas. Sometimes, though, the best place to start in preparation for something is to first remember why and what you are preparing for.

It’s Christmas time again
Time to gather with your family and your friends
And thank God for His gift of Love
We’re gonna thank God for His gift of Love
Thank God for His gift of Love
This Christmas

All too often we get overly consumed by thinking about all things we don’t have. “If only, I could look like this, or have that, then I would be happy.” Rather than being caught in these endless waves of negativity and complaints, try taking Steven Curtis Chapman’s advice and reflect upon everything God has given you.

Re-read some of the scripture above and take a moment to write out why you are thankful for God’s gift of love.
