Genesis 22:1-19, Hebrews 10:23

God keeps his promises. Hold on to that truth! As we read through Genesis 22, the narrative seems rather matter-of-fact. There is nothing matter-of-fact happening here! Abraham is about to plunge a knife into the heart of his beloved son at the command of the Lord God! I don’t know how old Isaac was at this time, but whether he was a toddler or a teenager he surely could have shown an old man like Abraham some resistance. The text gives me the impression that Abraham trusted his Father, God, so Isaac trusted his father, Abraham. In the end, God provided exactly what was needed at exactly the right time. It’s been said, “God is never late; he’s seldom early; he’s always right on time.” He can be trusted to keep his promises.
