Colossians 3:12-17, Romans 12:10
Just as we need others to help us navigate the messiness of life, we must also be there for others in their messiness. “One anothering” is a two-way street. It involves a commitment to being available to others, walking alongside them, praying for them, and loving them regardless of their circumstance. Romans 12:10 challenges us to outdo one another in showing honor. What does it look like to outdo one another in showing honor? This was Christ’s example to us. “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45 ESV). Don’t be a spectator; be available to jump into the mess with someone else when they need you!
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35 ESV).
