The Station of The Cross

Mark 15:33-39

Ever felt like God has left you, is withholding blessing or maybe even his presence from you? Call it what you will, the dark night of the soul, a spiritual drought, or God’s silence, the result is the same. Deep feelings of abandonment can be crippling for those who follow Christ. Jesus, God incarnate, endured abandonment by God. No one has ever or will ever suffer the abandonment Christ did. As the sinless one became sin, darkness covered the earth. From the depths of his spirit, Jesus cried out, “Why, God? Why have you left me now?” The weight was more than he could bear. With a loud cry, he breathed his last. Jesus was forsaken by God so that we would never be.
