It's 100 degrees outside. My yard is browning. My flowers are thirsty. You're probably wondering how I could expect anything to GROW in August.
While plants are wilting outside, August is the month for growth in ministry as we look forward to the new church year. Here's a glimpse at what is "growing" at FBC in August:
Sunday, August 14, Bible Study Leadership Training, 5-8pm
If you are a Bible Study leader, don't forget to RSVP to me (or your age group minister). We always start the new year with this dinner and time of training.
Tuesday, August 16, Educator Appreciation Luncheon, 11am-1pm
We are expecting to feed over 500 teachers and administrators from the Lewisville School District. If you are a teacher, help us spread the word about the free lunch on this day.
If you want to help as a greeter or server, please e-mail me or sign up in the atrium on Sunday.
Sunday morning, August 21, A Day of New Beginnings
The newly formed Marketing Committee has worked hard "planting seeds" all spring, and they want to show you the fruits of their labor. Come with $1 per person to enjoy their special surprise on this day! Yes, they are intentionally keeping it a secret, hoping you will show up and be pleasantly delighted on that day.
All of our preschoolers, children, and students will promote to their new classes on Sunday morning, August 21.
Sunday, August 28, Introducing "Sunday Nights @ First," 5-7pm, "B@SH"
Sign up in the atrium for choirs, children's & student discipleship classes, and adult discipleship classes. That night we will have a hamburger dinner for everyone registering, door prizes and give-aways, and be introduced to our new Family-Friendly Sunday night schedule. There may even be a cold treat!
Come, grow with us this fall at FBCL!
